1. Upload fonts and images
If printer is networked, ensure a Windows Printer driver is installed that points to its IP address. You may need to set this up in Zebra Utilities.
Use WakeOnLan to search IPs and find IP address of printer.
In Zebra Utilities, select the network printer driver, and click Download Fonts and Graphics.
There is a file in S:\Customers\Blueshell Mussels\Zebra ZT220\Blueshell2.mmf that can be loaded into the software, then uploaded to printer. *** Note the image does not upload here ***
Open scallops.lbl in ZebraDesigner (in f:\projects\blueshellmussels folder)
Go to File > Export to printer > Internal Flash, this will upload a label and the image on the label to the printer. In the Blueshell Mussels program, ZPL is sent directly to the print which can be copied from the uploaded .ZPL (use Directory Brower) and it also references the GRF image file.
To verify upload successful, go to printer IP and check directory listing that both files exist.
2. Accessing Locally
Printers are on a different IP range e.g. 10.58.0.133.
Plug in additional external network USB device, and configure IP range
3. Settings
Transmissive
Direct Thermal
Web Sensing
Peel Off (General Setup)
Transmissive Sensor – This is adjustable position sensor that has a red light to helps you to position for proper sensor placement. It can be viewed when the printhead is opened and the printer is powered on. This sensor is used for sensing label Gaps, Holes, and Notches. See the Transmissive Sensor Read More>>
Reflective Sensor - This is a fixed position inter-label gap type media sensor used for Black Mark Media. See the Reflective Sensor Read More>>
4. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DIRECT THERMAL AND THERMAL TRANSFER PRINTING?
There are two thermal printing methods: direct thermal and thermal transfer. Each method uses a thermal printhead that applies heat to the surface being marked. Thermal transfer printing uses a heated ribbon to produce durable, long-lasting images on a wide variety of materials. No ribbon is used in direct thermal printing, which creates the image directly on the printed material. Direct thermal media is more sensitive to light, heat and abrasion, which reduces the life of the printed material.
5. Username and Passwords

Username/Password is admin/1234
6. Troubleshooting
Often the print has eratic behaviour, especially after a few months. It may become very slow, or print random labels, or other strange behaviour.
To reset:
- Remotely connect to Blueshell Server MH-Server
- Go to IP of printer (obtainable from program)
- Go to View and Modify Printer Settings > Restore Default Configuration Settings (don't reset anything with Network)
- Go back to Home > Printer Server Settings > Reset Printer Server, then when web page is available again Reset Printer (both needed)
This usually cures.
